Kerrie & Peter

What was your vision for your wedding day?

We wanted a relaxed but romantic day.  I started with a dress that was very floral with flower appliques hand sewn on and felt that flowers were really the main theme of the wedding.  We went with vintage roses and peonies which happened to be in season right at the time of our wedding. The Wedding Series (who helped us style and organise our wedding) also helped us add flowers to the beautiful pool on the property to create a rose pool. (I had seen this concept on a job, painting live at a private event the year before in San Diego!) It was so incredibly lovely and Peter and I were able to swim with the roses the next morning!

What was your favourite moment?

Definitely stepping out down the isle with my dad to see both Peter and Marcel (my son) at the end of the alter both looking so dapper and handsome!  Sharing that moment and also seeing my mum tearing up as we walked down the isle to Ave Maria was beautiful too.

What inspired the menu created by Joe Chef?

We took Joe’s advice on going with beautiful rustic share plates.  Our dishes were French inspired with a mix of amazing Byron Bay produce.  Sharing was very social and helped everyone mix and chat more easily.  Individual chocolate soufflé’s were the perfect end to dinner.

Your gown created by George Wu was incredible. What was the process like for you?

It was a real time commitment to be honest but I enjoyed every minute of it.  I am drawing and painting couture most days but through this process I really learned how couture dresses are made. I have so much respect for all of the work that goes into these pieces of art!  George was also just as lovely a person as he is talented, so the process was wonderful for that reason too.  He has become a good friend too now.  I have finally met someone who loves French Couture as much as I do.

We were able to incorporate some of our amazing brand partners and brands you are aligned to professionally including Bulgari, Laduree and Perrier Jouet. What do you think these moments added to your wedding?

Honestly I think this made my wedding so personal!  I lived right near Laduree when I lived in Paris and then of course working for the brand, it felt right to have a little bit of Maison Laduree on the tables!  The Perrier Jouet champagne tower was also one of the most special moments of the wedding.  And the gorgeous flower detail glasses matched everything perfectly.  Lastly being able to pop into Bulgari two days before the wedding and pick out the most beautiful vintage pieces to wear on the day was something that was just incredibly special.
